Another great week in Kindergarten

Blue was the color word of the week! Of course we had another great performance of our song by the morning class!

We introduced a new center this week. In the "Read the Room" center, students walk around the room searching for words. Our focus this week were words related to Fire Safety. This quickly became a favorite! :)

Mystery Readers are a huge hit with both classes! Our readers are scheduled to come each Friday. We are booked through December, but will have more availabilities come January! :)
Above, Ms. Palmerton reads "If you give a Moose a Muffin" and below, Mrs. Lehr dresses in costume to read "Miss Nelson is Missing."

Our PM Class was treated to a tour of the cafeteria this week to see what happens "Behind the Scenes" where they eat lunch! Mrs. Liz was even nice enough to surprise them with slushies :)
Apples and fall is the theme for the week as we gear up for a fun field trip to Evan's Orchard on Tuesday, October 14th for the AM class and Wednesday, October 15th for the PM class.

Fire Safety and other Fun!

Have you been on Lexia at home?? Many of our students are already moving up to new levels while practicing early literacy skills on the computer or ipad at home and school! Lexia and Dreambox are great tools for extra practice and they're pretty fun too!

In math we're learning about 3-dimensional shapes. On "Fun Friday" we had the chance to explore and build more with these shapes. Want to help your child practice these shapes at home? Go on a "Shape Hunt" in your house or even at a store to see what 3D shapes you may find!

Fire Safety was our theme last week and will continue this week! Check out the fun we had!

Our favorite Friday activity is the mystery reader! We had quite a treat in the AM class as Kailee's grandfather, a storyteller by trade, entertained us with his voices and storytelling! Thanks to Wayne and Mary for being this week's "Mystery Readers."
This week will be busy! The LME book fair is taking place in the community room in the library and we'll host a Family Literacy Night on Thursday, September 25th from 5-7:00.

We'll also celebrate Spirit Week at Chick-fil-A! Each purchase at Chick-fil-A allows LME to raise money for special programs at our school. Remember to turn in the form you got in your child's folder or tell them it's for Mrs. McClintock's class at LME. The class with the most participation wins  a special prize!! :)

Fun Friday!

We've had another busy and fun week of Kindergarten!
Centers focused on exploring shapes by making them using geoboards, sorting them as well as building with a variety of shapes. We're excited to move onto 3 dimensional shapes next week.

Reading Workshop has focused all about families this week and we've even played a few games with partners to practice rhyming words!

Can you guess our color word of the week? Check out our fun song to help us remember :)

Our LME PTA is asking for volunteers to work at this year's Book Fair. The Book Fair will take place the week of September 22-26th at LME. We will hold a Family Literacy Night on Thursday, September 25th from 5-7:00. Swinging into September

Can you believe it's already September? This week we've been exploring shapes in lots of different ways. At centers we made shape pizzas. We counted and recorded how many of each shape was on our pizza.

Students also played "Roll and Trace" where they rolled dice and traced/colored the correct shape. Centers are becoming one of our favorite activities!

We're now officially done with MAP testing! :) Our students worked very hard to show how smart they are all while learning to use the computers in the village square for the first time.

This week we will begin practicing using the computers in the village square in preparation for getting onto Lexia and Dreambox Math. Be on the lookout for more information on how you can logon at home! These are great practice tools for your child in both reading and math!

A big THANK YOU to our local Chick-fil-a for our cookies! Lemons Mill was the school with the highest attendance at the Back to School Bash and our class had the most participation out of the whole school! Way to go Kindergarteners!! We really appreciate your support of our school!
Our class won a cookie party from Chick-fil-a for having the highest number in attendance for the Back to School bash! We enjoyed our cookies :)

With fall just around the corner, we have a lot of fun things planned! Be sure to check back for more updates as the weeks continue!
