Arts Day!

Just a warning, this post contains A LOT of pictures! We participated in the annual "Arts Day" at Western on Thursday. There was so much fun going on it was hard to capture it all!

We had a great time listening to a local librarian read us a story. It was even more fun to paint and create our own art work connected to the story!

Ms. Peggy from "Granny's Goodies" taught us what types of things going into making a cake and other baked goods.

We learned that cookie decorating isn't quite as easy as she made it look!

Participating in drama and using our imagination for some games was lots of fun!
Dancers from Scott County Parks and Recreation entertained us as we learned about
 different forms of dance.

Jim Calloway and the "Bluegrass Bullshippers" taught us about different types of instruments as well as played some wonderful bluegrass music!

Overall it was a wonderful day! Many thanks to all of the teachers, parents, and volunteers
who made this fun day of learning posssible!

Dr. Suess Week

We recently celebrated Dr. Suess' "Read Across America Day." Students were invited to dress up in fun ways related to our favorite Dr.Suess books.  Monday we read The Foot Book and wore silly socks. Tuesday was hat day for The Cat in the Hat. Wednesday we wore mixed up clothes for a read aloud of Wacky Wednesday. Thursday students wore green for Green Eggs and Ham.  Finally on Friday the teachers wore special "Thing One and Thing Two" shirts. We had a great week celebrating such a well known author!
