In the swing of things...

We're finally getting "in the swing of things" in Kindergarten! Check out the fun we've been having this week!

We were able to visit a school bus this week and learn about school bus safety. While not all of us ride the bus daily, we will hopefully go on a field trip this year and get to practice what we learned! :)
Our centers this week focused on counting with Pete the Cat and his groovy buttons.

We also practiced identifying letters of the alphabet.

Each day we're getting into a better routine of how to "do" school! I'm excited to dive into our Go Math series next week and explore shapes as well as handwriting.
Stay tuned for tips and some cool apps to try out at home!

First Week Fun!

What a wonderful first week we had!
This week was full of exploring our school with Pete the Cat as well as learning the rules of the classroom!
Our new favorite activity is doing "Brain Breaks" with our GoNoodle friends. These brain breaks allow us to get some exercise and refocus for the next lesson. Ask your child about our class Champs (mascots)!

Freckles Sinclair (AM Class Champ)

Rad Chad (PM Class Champ)

One of our favorite stories this week was "The Monster Who Came to School." The monster helped remind us of good and bad choices regarding our behavior at school. Everyone helped to sort pictures into good and bad choices. I look forward to even more fun next week with these kiddos!

Back to School!!

I say it every year, but it's hard to believe another school year  is about to begin! The week before school starts brings new emotions. Nervous, scared, maybe even excited! Rest assured I will do my best to provide a caring environment for your child to learn and grow! I truly believe Kindergarten is one of the most pivotal years in a child's education. With a solid foundation, it is my hope your child will gain a love of learning in my classroom!

Here are just a few tips for a successful start of Kindergarten at LME!
1. Make sure you have all necessary paperwork turned into the office or your child's teacher.
2. Go shopping for school supplies with your child. Help him/her pick out what clothes he/she will wear the first day of school. While many children are nervous for the first day of school, your reassurance and involvement in these tasks are helpful in easing their fears.
3. Plan ahead! Whether it be packing lunches or picking out what clothes to wear each day, a plan will help begin the year on the right foot.
4. Get back into a routine. I know I'm guilty of staying up later in the summer! If you've fallen out of your bedtime routine, now is a good time to get back into a solid routine!
5. Accidents happen! Prepare a change of clothes in advance and bring it with you on the first day of school for your child’s teacher to keep in the classroom.
6. Talk to your child about what they can expect at school. Reassure them you will be there when the day is done to talk about all the fun they had at school!
7. Get involved! We love volunteers in the school and classroom! Be sure to get involved with our PTA. Sign up for emails and "like" them on Facebook for updated information!

Enjoy these last few days of summer!
We look forward to seeing your smiling faces the first day of school!
