Science and other fun!

Happy 6th Birthday Isabella!
Even with all of the excitement of the snow, we had a great time preparing for and participating in Science Fun Day! Here is our class' Science project. We tested Act II and Orville Redenbacher popcorn to see which brand popped the best. The answer? Act II popped the most kernels and had the least number of unpopped kernels!
Mr. McHorter, the husband of our science teacher Mrs. McHorter, taught us about the science of sound. We loved feeling the vibration and learning about different
sounds from different instruments!

Louie the Lightning Bug was a big hit! Ask your child to see if he/she can remember the song they learned to remember the telephone number from KU.

Kentucky American Water Company taught us about the water cycle. We also learned how they clean water to make it safe for us to use!
We have started learning about addition in math!

Remember even at home you can use household items to practice simple addition! The kids, of course, loved M & M addition!

We have continued science fun by learning about magnets! Below we are exploring what kinds of items are and are not magnetic!

Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Even though we have missed several days because of snow, our learning hasn't stopped! Students have been practicing making patterns. Our favorite, of course, was making pattern necklaces out of fruit loops!

We talked and wrote about our goals for 2011!

Happy Birthday to Nancy!
And congratulations to our most recent "Top Dog" Keira!!
